Ive been here for over 4.5 billion years. 22,500 times longer than you. dont really need people. But people need me. Yes, your future depends on me. When thrive, you thrive. When falter, you falter. Or worse. But Ive been here for eons. have fed species greater than you. And have starved species greater than you. My oceans. My soil. My flowing streams. My forests. They all can take you. Or leave you. How you choose to live each day, whether you regard or disregard me, doesnt really matter to me. One way. Or the other. Your actions will determine your fate. Not mine. am nature. will go on. am prepared to evolve. Are you? Nature Is Speaking – Harrison Ford is The Ocean am the ocean. Im water. Im most of this planet. shaped it. Every stream, every cloud, and every rain drop. It all comes back to me. One way or another, every living thing here needs me. Im the source. Im what they crawled out of. Humans? Theyre no different. dont owe them thing. give. They take. But can always take back. Thats just the way its always been. Its not their planet anyway. Never was. Never will be. But humans, they take more than their share. They poison me, then they expect me to feed them. Well it doesnt work that way. If humans want to exist in nature with me and off of me, suggest they listen close. Im only going to say this once. If nature isnt kept healthy, humans wont survive. Simple as that. Me, could give damn, with or without humans. Im the ocean. covered this entire planet once. And can always cover it again. Thats all have to say. Nature Is Speaking – Kevin Spacey is The Rainforest am the rainforest. watched them grow up here. Theyve left. But they always come back. Yes, they always come back. For my trees, their wood. My plants, their medicines. For my beauty, their escape. Ive always been there for them. And have been more than generous. Sometimes gave it all to them. Now gone, forever. But humans, theyre so smart. So smart. Such big brains and opposable thumbs. They know how to make things. Amazing things. Now, why would they need an old forest like me anymore? Jungles? Trees? Well, they do breathe air. And make air. Have they thought about that? Humans, so smart. Theyll figure it out. Humans making air. Thatll be fun to watch. Nature Is Speaking – Edward Norton is The Soil am the soil. am in the hills, and in the valleys, the farms, the orchards. Without me humans could not exist. But you treat me like dirt. Do you realize that am just thin skin on this planet? And that Im actually alive? Full of organisms that grow your food. But am broken, aching, overused, sick. Because of you. You have withered me away to less than half of what used to be just over 100 years ago. Are you paying attention? am turning to dust. So maybe you could treat me with little more respect. suppose you still want to eat, right? Nature Is Speaking – Penélope Cruz is Water am water. To humans am simply just there. Im something they just take for granted. But there is only so much of me. And more and more of them every single day. start as rain in the mountains. Flow to the rivers and streams. And end up in the ocean. Then the cycle begins again. And it will take me 10,000 years to get back to the state am in now. But to humans? Im just water. Just there. Where will humans find me when there are billions more of them around? Where will they find themselves? Will they wage wars over me? Like they do over everything else? Thats always an option. But its not the only option. Nature Is Speaking – Robert Redford is The Redwood How come youre so smart? Kid, Ive been around really long time. As matter of fact, our kind has been around longer than just about anything. Ive seen just about everything. Really? Like what? Well, Ive seen weather. All kinds of weather. And lots of critters? Yeah. At first there were just some bugs and spiders, then some mice and rats, and some rabbits and bears, and skunks. Then, all of sudden, there were humans. And all hell broke loose. Why? What did the humans do? Well they changed wolves into dogs, rivers into lakes, and us into wood. They started using the planet like it was put there just for them. Act like theyve got an extra one laying around. Why do they do that? Why dont they understand? dont know. If they dont figure out that theyre part of nature rather than just using nature, they probably wont be around to see you grow up. Nature Is Speaking – Ian Somerhalder is Coral Reef am coral. Some people think Im just rock. When, in fact, Im the largest thing alive on this planet. Im so big, can be seen from space. But for how long? grow for almost 250 million years. And humans came along and now of me is gone. Sure, live at the bottom of the sea. And you might not see me that often. But you do need me. Do you realize that of all marine life depends on me? am the nursery of the sea. Little fish depend on me for food. And to hide from the big fish. And guess who eats the big fish? Thats right. You do. Im the protein factory for the world. Yet you raise the temperature of the ocean so cant live here anymore. And when big storms and tsunamis barrel through the ocean, Im your fortress. Yet you tear me apart with dynamite and poison me with cyanide. Well, heres crazy thought: Stop killing me. Nature Is Speaking – Lupita Nyongo is Flower am flower. Yes, Im beautiful. Ive heard it before. And it never grows old. Im worshiped for my looks, my scent, my looks. But heres the thing. Life starts with me. You see feed people. Every fruit comes from me. Every potato. Me. Every kernel of corn. Me. Every grain of rice. Me. Me, me, me, know. But it true. And sometimes feed their souls. am their words when they have none. say love you, without sound. Im sorry, without voice. inspire the greatest of them. Painters, poets, pattern makers. Ive been muse to them all. But in my experience, people underestimate the power of pretty little flower. Because their life does start with me. And it could end without me.
